My electoral victory! by George Galloway

by philapilus

Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for ME

Comrades!

Once again the British people have shown their good judgement in supporting myself and the Respect party, giving us yet another decisive election victory!

By selflessly releasing me from my role as their MP, the people of Bradford have shown that they want me to go forth, holding aloft the banner of Respect, to move on to even greater things – and if that isn’t ‘winning’ I don’t know what is!

Yes friends, unable to bear their guilt at having kept me all to themselves, they have

Tory MPs ordered to play Candy Crush

by philapilus

Hours of fun for Hurd and Whitelaw

It has emerged that MP Nigel Mills, who was caught playing Candy Crush Saga during a committee session, was simply obeying party instructions.

Conservative party chairman Grant Shapps confirmed he had told Mr Mills to play Candy Crush throughout the Work and Pensions hearing “to keep him from doing any real damage.”

Nigel Mills said “I have been told to spend all my Commons sessions either playing games on my phone, nodding off, or

by philapilus
English: The Big Ben, London, view from across...

“I’m actually now considering ringing as loud and hard as I can throughout the whole fucking thing.”

It has been announced this morning that Big Ben will remain silent throughout Margaret Thatcher’s funeral tomorrow – but not for the reasons which had been previously stated.

John Bercow had told MPs that the world-famous bell in the Palace of Westminster’s clocktower, and the Great Clock itself, would both be silenced as a mark of respect for the former prime minister.

But the clock and bell made a joint statement, shortly after reading Bercow’s comments, saying “We strongly oppose the attempts of pernicious forces in Westminster to silence the real motivations behind our aniticipated silence tomorrow. We can not remain silent over the silencing of our intended silence.

“We wish it to

Remembering Chavez: by George Galloway

by philapilus
George Galloway

Chavez kept this picture of me in a locket, which he wore around his neck at all times. It was his dying wish that it be buried with him, lying open over his heart.

With the death yesterday of Venezuela’s president, Hugo Chavez, the world has lost not only one of the greatest leaders of the modern era, but one of its greatest judges of character – of any epoch or nation whatsoever.

When I travelled to Venezuela to work on his re-election campaign last year, Chavez greeted me, saying “It is an honour to meet you, Mr Galloway. Your intelligence, political integrity and superlative oratorical skills, are matched perhaps only by your rugged handsome charm and mellifluous celtic voice.”

I thanked him for the compliment and saluted his indefatigibility. We both agreed that this was truly a meeting of massive intellects, and my friend Hugo told me
